Project management
Whatever the scale or scope of a project, effective project management is an absolute necessity. Our tried and tested methodology is based on a bedrock of lessons learnt from previous projects.
Our clients, some of whom are FTSE100 companies, represent a variety of industries. We have managed UK-based and global projects, with budgets ranging from £100k to £5M, and over timescales of between 3 months and 2 years. We can also add value to smaller projects, particularly in the finance, IT and procurement areas.
We provide a unique "light touch" approach to project and programme management. By tailoring our management techniques to your requirements, we ensure that our solution is fit for purpose and not over-engineered.
How it works
Every project is unique and requires a unique project management methodology. Therefore our first, and most important, consideration is to apply a methodology that meets your business needs, whether that be Prince2 or an alternative structured project management system. We typically engage with our clients at the front end of a project or programme, with our first deliverable being a project / programme mandate or charter that ensures the project is managed correctly from the start.
Following project initiation, we generally perform the following suite of activities:
Business case refinement and monitoring during the project / programme life cycle
High-level / stage-level planning, and tracking progress against these plans
Reporting on progress to stakeholders and providing assurance to the project sponsor
Managing the project through stage gates
Issue tracking
Risk identification and monitoring
Cost control, resource management and supplier management
Quality control
Delivery of an appropriate documentation system
Development of an appropriate change control process
Throughout, our goals are to achieve timely project delivery while controlling costs and assuring quality. We build-in the necessary rigor and discipline through a top-down approach, ensuring the project progresses correctly through the project lifecycle stages, and providing ongoing performance measurements throughout the project's execution.
We believe that goal-directed planning significantly improves visibility of all the factors affecting a project, and that this greater transparency leads to higher quality, faster delivery, and more effective cost control. This is particularly true when managing many concurrent projects or sub-projects, and this approach is ideal when concurrent activities are required in order to achieve key milestones within an aggressive timeframe.
